Deputy Director

The Deputy to the Director of Budget and Program Performance is responsible for much of the daily operation of the Office. The incumbent will be required to provide specialized assistance relating to developing, assessing and evaluating Departmental policies and programs. In addition, the Deputy Director provides guidance to top executives of the Department on budget formulation, presentation, execution, and programming.

Fiscal Analyst
Research Division, District of Columbia Office of Revenue Analysis

The position is reportedly a good opportunity for anyone who is interested in state and local fiscal issues. The type of work involved includes fiscal impact statement analysis, property tax analysis (including research on foreclosures), documenting comparative state fiscal conditions, and working on a non-tax revenue report.

Note, the position description indicates that the position is a 13-month appointment, but our contacts tell us that the office intends to convert this position to permanent status.

Budget Analyst
The National Archives (NARA)
GS-0560-13;   $86,927 - $113,007 USD/year

NARA is looking for a budget analyst at its College Park, MD, location.

Duties include:

  • Providing expert advice and recommendations on all aspects of assigned budget areas to NARA program officials and managers. Assisting in formulation, presentation, and execution of the budget.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, editing, and consolidating budget submissions for the budget call for a major portion of NARA's budget.
  • Preparing NARA consolidated budget submission using automated format for submission to OMB and Congress.
  • Drafting changes to and developing NARA budget policy and procedures. Tracking pending legislation to determine the impact on NARA program policies and procedures.
  • Serving as a member of agency task forces or committees which develop program changes that affect NARA's budgetary policy or programs.
  • Providing technical guidance to lower-graded analysts.

Director of Budget
City of Chesapeake, VA

Position Overview: The Director supervises a staff of six in overseeing the City's operating and capital improvement budgets and facilitating City-wide and Departmental resource planning and monitoring. Responsibilities include researching and formulating policy and position papers for consideration of City Manager; planning and managing budgetary processes; and documenting and reporting events and activities with potential expenditure or revenue impacts to senior management . Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Finance, Economics or a closely related field and a minimum of six years, full-time equivalent work experience in local government budget analysis. Supervisory experience is also a prerequisite for this position. A Master's Degree in a directly related concentration, such as Economics, Finance, or Public Administration, is a preferred credential for the Director of Budget.

Compensation Package: The City of Chesapeake has established a salary range of $89,555 to $107,466 for this position. The compensation package will include the salary of offer, determined by candidate qualifications, plus a highly competitive benefit package.
